Check Responsiveness
Ask the person if they are choking and check if they can cough or breathe. Ensure the scene is safe before assisting.
Call 911
If the person cannot breathe, speak, or cough, call emergency services immediately.
Perform Heimlich Maneuver
Stand behind the person, wrap your arms around their waist, make a fist above the navel, and perform quick abdominal thrusts until the object is expelled.
Repeat & Monitor
Continue abdominal thrusts until the object is removed or the person becomes unconscious. Be ready to start CPR if necessary.
